About us

Welcome to the North Lincolnshire Museum Service Image Archive. The archive, established in 2000, is an ongoing project to digitise the Museum's photographic collections and make them available to the public. This website allows people from all over the world to see these images and promotes the long term care of the collections. Our new look Image Archive website is funded by Arts Council England (ACE), as part of the Joining Up The Humber museums project which began in 2013.

North Lincolnshire is a largely rural community centred on Scunthorpe - a town founded on the iron and steel industry. Although this industry is relatively new, beginning in the 1860s, the area has a history of human settlement stretching back several thousand years. Find out more on the North Lincolnshire Museum website.

We have very few details about some of the images in the collection. If you can provide any further information, please use the form provided. We would also be interested to hear about any images you have that may be suitable for inclusion on the site.

We hope you enjoy using the archive.
